Sweden’s soccer season is coming closer and with only weeks before kick of, Malmö’s own team ”MFF” wanted a nice commercial to attract supporters and give the teams old and loyal supporters a nice treat.
The commercial was filmed with a RED camera by Palle Malmros who made a great job capturing the players intensity as they’re standing ready to head up to the field, even though the thing was shot in a studio.
I then later edit the commercial with a slow tempo at first, building up with the chant of the MFF’s supporters in the background and you can really hear how they chant and stomp their feet over the players. Afterwards I graded the movie, giving it a high chroma level and desaturated feeling with high on contrast and sullen colors and the grade really gave the end result the edge I wanted. It was filmed in 32fps so there’s a nice subtile slowmotion that also helped making it rather than a raw Adidas soccer commercial, more of a nice commercial that really ment something to the supporters. And it did. It was given loads of great revies and was well recieved both to fans and to the people in Malmö.
The commercial was shown at TV4 in Skåne. When the season later kicked off, at the arena in Malmö the players are presented on a 20 x 8m screen when they enter the field. I also made all the player presentations, and you can see one of them here.
Produced by Scandvision 2009.
